The Manhattan cinema embraces these principles to create a
contemporary-gothic design, in black!
Black and dark themed cinemas are naturally popular due to the
purpose of the room, however there are unique challenges involved that the Manhattan addresses.
Sophisticated obsidian can quickly become dingey dungeon, but the use of intelligent LED lighting from Light Walls washes colour and light down the side
walls from ceiling wells, lends a subtle accent across the central ceiling
coffer and illuminates the rear bar sections.
Variations in texture and reflection deliver interest even
in low light. The Fabric Wall panels alternated with stainless steel strips
talk to the ideals of traditional meeting modern while creating balanced
diversity in surface textures. Similar
juxtapositions can be seen with the use of very different yet complimentary
seating solutions.
Manhattan is brave yet refined, gothic black but not short
of light or interest. The differences in design principles create a room that
is strong, potentially provocative yet still comfortable, welcoming and
familiar.
