What is Projector Resolution?
Why is Projector Resolution Important?
The more pixels that you have, the more visual data you can reproduce in the projected image. This can deliver an image that is sharper and more detailed over a lower resolution.
How is the Projector Resolution Calculated?
The projector resolution will be defined in the product data.
Projector Resolution Considerations
It is important to note that there can be a difference between the native resolution of the projector chip and the output resolution that is seen on the screen. This technique with the fabulous name “wobulation” can use several methods to direct light to two or more locations on the screen creating distinct addressable points from a single native pixel. The downside of this technique is that it can be less sharp than when a native chip is used due to the speed of movement in the native pixel. It also reduces the overall light output since the native pixel can only be in one place at a time, the total time in a frame must be split over the number of wobulation pixels. It is also wrong to automatically assume that more pixels lead to a sharper image. Overall sharpness is a function of the resolution and optical quality of the lens - that optical quality can vary massively between brands.
